Job Description

Alcott Global is partnering with the world's leading Packaging companies to identify its new Global Procurement Manager for Commodities based in Singapore. Commodity or trading aptitude is at the core of the role and its replacement of an incumbent who has moved up the ladders within the company. 

The successful candidate will manage the tender cycle for commodities that the client requires for its businesses, track movements in commodities / relevant indices, be able to and decide on the best and most cost-effective purchases (spot vs contract). The role's focus (75%) is to supply Prime materials to the Australian business (approximately 95%). Some Prime materials must also be supplied to New Zealand (approximately 3.5%). 
The key aptitude is commodity trading mindset and commodity analytics – understanding indices.

  • Resin, Aluminum, Tinplate – Expediting Trials, Price Lists, Logistics, and managing pass-through pricing.
  • Plastic Flake- Learning Tactical Buying in Asia.
  • Can Ends – Sole Responsibility for Purchasing and SRM
  • Finished Plastic Goods- Sole Responsibility for Finished Plastic Goods.

  • Identify key Prime materials and strategically source through the Singapore procurement function
  • Optimize revenue through Visy Singapore for all materials and commodities
  • Liaise closely with Australian-based based Divisional Procurement Managers to identify and realize cost-saving opportunities for materials and commodities
  • Channeling of purchasing through correct buying streams
  • Ensure supply continuity of key raw materials at all times
  • Identify & drive sourcing & saving opportunities across Divisions
  • Analyze supplier pricing and cost structures to support negotiation strategy
  • Pro-actively contribute operational savings to meet and exceed the overall Group procurement savings target
  • Develop strong relationships with operational contacts (engineering, manufacturing, etc.) in conjunction with the Divisional Procurement Managers

  • Monitor commodity trends and implement strategies always to ensure market competitive pricing – communicate trends to a wider group

  • Feedback from operational Divisional Procurement Managers on procurement support and efficiency
  • Rationalization of the supplier base to agreed targets and innovation of all key materials through Singapore


  • Prior experience in global Commodities Prime Material with knowledge and experience ideally in a manufacturing environment of Consumer goods or Packaging company
  • Sound understanding of Global and Asian market dynamics in relation to packaging commodities and materials such as resins, steel and tinplate, aluminum, and associated secondary materials (inks/coatings etc.).
  • In-depth materials and commodity knowledge of packaging materials, including a thorough understanding of key feedstock and commodity price drivers, supply/demand trends, supply options pros and cons (spot vs contract), formula-based pricing, and customer focus (internal/external). Strong negotiation skills – high value / complex negotiations / ability to deal with senior management
  • Knowledge of best practices procure to pay processes (P2P) and tools in an SAP environment;
    Tender Experience (RFI, RFQ to Contract)
  • Ability to identify and qualify new Asian Suppliers combined with effective supplier relationship management skills
  • An understanding of contract law, development, and maintenance; Supply chain management (total cost of purchase)
