Role Purpose

The Head of Operations will lead end-to-end regional operations across manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing, and distribution for North America. The role is accountable for improving safety, quality, service, cost, inventory, and operational capability, while driving a major transformation of the North American network into a more agile, customer-focused, and performance-driven operation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Strategy & Network Transformation

Define and execute the North American operations transformation strategy across manufacturing, supply chain, warehousing, and distribution.
Lead footprint and network redesign initiatives, including capacity planning, make-buy decisions, site consolidation, service model design, and capital planning.
Partner with commercial, procurement, quality, finance, HR, and operational excellence teams to ensure operations strategy supports growth, customer service, margin improvement, and risk management.

2. Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Distribution Execution

Own end-to-end regional operations performance across production, inventory, logistics, warehousing, distribution, and supply chain execution.
Improve safety, quality, service, OTIF, lead time, peak-season reliability, cost, productivity, and working capital performance across the regional network.
Strengthen SIOP / integrated planning discipline, KPI cadence, and corrective action routines to improve demand-supply alignment and operational accountability.

3. Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement

Embed Lean, continuous improvement, and a robust operating system across the North American manufacturing and distribution network.
Lead productivity and cost-improvement initiatives focused on conversion cost reduction, gross margin improvement, inventory optimization, and service reliability.
Deploy automation, analytics, digital tools, and disciplined governance to improve visibility, decision-making, execution, and measurable transformation outcomes.

4. Organizational Leadership & Capability Building

Lead the full North American operations organization across multiple manufacturing sites and distribution locations.
Build, coach, and develop a high-performing operations leadership team, strengthening succession depth across plant, supply chain, and distribution leadership roles.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, performance ownership, and cross-functional partnership.

Desired Candidate Profile

Senior operations leader with 15-20 years of experience across manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, and multi-site operations leadership.
Proven track record leading multiple plants and / or distribution centers with full operational accountability, ideally within a large regional or business-unit scope.
Strong end-to-end operations experience across manufacturing, supply chain execution, inventory, logistics, warehousing, and distribution.
Demonstrated success driving footprint transformation, network redesign, Lean / operating-system deployment, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
Strong people leader with success in building high-performing teams, developing talent, strengthening succession, and leading cultural transformation.
Relevant sector experience may include diversified industrials, building products, HVAC, consumer durables, appliances, engineered products, or other complex manufacturing environments.

Role Purpose

The VP Supply Chain will lead end-to-end supply chain operations across Asia-Pacific (excluding China), the Middle East, and Africa, overseeing a highly complex regional network spanning from Morocco to New Zealand.

This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, transformation, modernization, and business alignment across the region. The position requires a leader who can combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, strengthen on-ground leadership in India, accelerate decision-making, and drive agility within a dynamic business environment. Operating within a global matrix organization, the role partners closely with R&D, Procurement, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, Installations and Services, influencing outcomes across functions without direct authority. The VP Supply Chain is expected to act as a true business partner, proactively driving cross-functional collaboration and business priorities beyond traditional supply chain boundaries.

A key focus of the role will be leading transformation initiatives across modernization, lean manufacturing, digitalization, smart manufacturing, IoT-enabled supply chains, industrialization, make-vs-buy strategies, and cost competitiveness improvement across emerging markets.

Based in Chennai, the role requires a strong understanding of the Indian market, operational ecosystem, and cultural environment. While China operations are managed locally, the position serves as an escalation and governance point while collaborating closely with Europe and China leadership teams. This role is positioned at Connor Grade 2 (VP level) within KONE’s global leadership hierarchy reporting directly to the EVP - Supply Chain, Finland, with full ownership of the Escalator Supply Chain agenda. The position oversees a comprehensive and senior leadership team comprising the

All direct reports operate at the Director level, reflecting the strategic depth and scale of this role.
The mandate includes end-to-end accountability for driving transformation across manufacturing, engineering, product management, and supply chain operations.
The role carries significant decision-making authority and is expected to lead large-scale change initiatives, enhance operational excellence, and strengthen global competitiveness.
With strong global exposure and close alignment with senior leadership, including visibility at the CEO level, this position plays a critical role in shaping the future of KONE escalator supply chain.
It is designed as a succession pipeline role, offering substantial leadership growth and long-term strategic impact within the organization.

The selection process consists of four rounds of interaction, designed to assess both leadership capability and functional expertise. This is followed by a mandatory assessment phase, which includes cognitive evaluations, simulations, and business case exercises to further evaluate problem-solving ability, decision-making, and strategic thinking.
