Alcott Global is partnering with a global client in the Transport and Logistics space to search for their Regional COO.
Role Overview
The Regional Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for leading and optimising end-to-end operations across the company’s transport and logistics platform within the assigned region. This includes oversight of multimodal transport assets, logistics operations, supply chain infrastructure, and associated service businesses.
The role is accountable for operational excellence, safety, reliability, cost efficiency, and service quality, while driving strategic initiatives aligned with regional growth, digital transformation, and sustainability objectives. As a key member of the regional executive leadership team, the Regional COO partners closely with the CEO and functional leaders to execute strategy, scale operations, and enhance asset and network performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and governance for regional transport and logistics operations, ensuring consistent performance across all assets, networks, and operating units.
- Drive operational excellence through standardised processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and performance management frameworks.
- Ensure high levels of service reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across the transport and logistics value chain.
Strategy Execution & Growth
- Translate corporate and regional strategy into clear operational plans and measurable outcomes.
- Support organic growth, network optimisation, and expansion initiatives, including new routes, facilities, and service offerings.
- Play a lead role in operational due diligence and integration of new assets, acquisitions, or partnerships within the region.
Financial & Commercial Performance
- Own regional operating budgets, cost optimisation programmes, and productivity targets.
- Partner with commercial teams to support revenue growth, pricing discipline, and customer value propositions.
- Ensure strong asset utilisation, return on capital, and long-term value creation.
Safety, Sustainability & Risk
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and operational risk standards.
- Embed sustainability and ESG principles into operations, including emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and resilience initiatives.
- Manage operational risk, business continuity, and crisis response across the regional network.
People & Leadership
- Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse regional operations leadership team.
- Build strong succession pipelines and foster a high-performance, accountability-driven culture.
- Promote collaboration across functions, geographies, and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a senior operational representative with regulators, customers, partners, and public-sector stakeholders as required.
- Maintain strong alignment with corporate headquarters and regional leadership peers.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 20+ years of progressive experience in operations, with significant leadership responsibility in transport, logistics, supply chain, infrastructure, or asset-intensive environments.
- A dedicated Lean leader with a commitment to standard work, visual management, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) principles. This role involves driving discipline, structured problem-solving, and elevated performance through consistent daily Gemba engagement and collaborative team-based learning initiatives.
- A strategic systems thinker adept at achieving superior outcomes through process flow optimization, the elimination of bottlenecks, and rigorous, data-driven execution ensures incentive structures are meticulously aligned with quantifiable results.
- Proven track record managing complex, asset-intensive, multi-site or multi-country operations.
- Experience driving large-scale operational transformation, efficiency programmes, and growth initiatives.
- Exposure to regulated environments and stakeholder-heavy operating contexts.
- Strong strategic and commercial mindset combined with deep operational execution capability.
- Financial acumen with experience managing P&L, capex, and cost optimisation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field required.
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
