Role Overview
Our client, a leading global medical device company, is seeking a Global Vice President of Logistics to lead its worldwide distribution and logistics operations. The role will have end-to-end accountability for the global logistics network, transformation agenda, financial performance, trade compliance, Distribution Quality, digitalization, and strategic logistics partnerships.
Scope and Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the global logistics and distribution strategy across all major regions.
- Lead the company’s worldwide network of distribution centers, warehouses, transportation providers, customs brokers, and third-party logistics partners.
- Drive large-scale logistics transformation, including network optimization, operating-model redesign, process standardization, and organizational capability building.
- Define the future-state distribution network to improve service, resilience, scalability, compliance, and cost performance.
- Oversee customs and global trade compliance, including import/export controls, product classification, valuation, documentation, and broker governance.
- Partner with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to ensure compliance with medical device regulations, Good Distribution Practices, and Distribution Quality requirements.
- Lead the digitalization of logistics through automation, analytics, improved systems, and end-to-end shipment visibility.
- Own the global logistics budget, investment portfolio, productivity agenda, and financial outcomes.
- Provide executive oversight of key 3PLs and logistics providers, ensuring strong service, quality, compliance, and commercial performance.
- Build and lead a high-performing global organization while partnering effectively with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Tax, Legal, and Digital teams.
- Act as the senior logistics advisor to the executive leadership team, providing clear recommendations on performance, transformation, investment, and risk.
Candidate Requirements
- Significant executive leadership experience in global logistics, distribution, or supply-chain operations within a complex multinational organization.
- Demonstrated end-to-end accountability for a large-scale, multi-region distribution network, including logistics budgets, investments, service levels, and financial performance.
- Proven success leading enterprise-wide logistics transformation, network strategy, operating-model redesign, and technology-enabled change.
- Strong expertise in international transportation, warehousing, customs, global trade compliance, and third-party logistics management.
- Experience overseeing Distribution Quality and regulatory requirements in medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong executive stakeholder-management experience and a track record of leading geographically dispersed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related discipline; an MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- Medical device experience and professional qualifications in supply chain, customs, trade compliance, quality, or operational excellence would be advantageous.
